Joel Gallant, MD, MPH
Joel Gallant is a professor of medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, and Senior Medical Advisor at AXCES Research Group in Santa Fe, New Mexico. From 2017 to 2024, he was Executive Director of Medical Affairs at Gilead Sciences, focusing on HIV therapy. Before joining Gilead, he had been a professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases at Johns Hopkins University for 21 years, where he worked in the HIV program. He subsequently directed HIV and hepatitis services at Southwest CARE Center in Santa Fe and held a faculty appointment at the University of New Mexico. He has conducted many clinical trials on the treatment of HIV infection and viral hepatitis and has written extensively on HIV infection and its treatment.
